The College was granted Teaching School status April 2016, and established The Dartmoor Teaching Schools Alliance (DTSA), with over 90 schools as members across Devon. The establishment of DTSA has enhanced the quality of teaching and learning for our students and created opportunities for professional development for our staff, so that the opportunities for development and career progression within the organisation are superb.

DMAT is a large MAT consisting of a total of 3 secondary schools and 13 primary schools and provides further opportunity for sharing good practice and resources and for staff development.

Within the wider organisation of DMAT, the College is a member of a smaller cluster of schools called The Dartmoor Federation which came into effect on 1st September 2011. The Federation between Okehampton College and Boasley Cross, Bridestowe, Lydford, Exbourne Church of England and Northlew & Ashbury Parochial Church of England Primary Schools, gives us a great opportunity to make yet further progress in our bid to become truly outstanding across all educational phases.

We are looking appoint an outstanding leader to oversee the development of the curriculum in Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 and to lead in data analysis and teaching and learning.

The successful candidate will be:

The successful applicant will share these values and play an active part in delivering on this commitment.

Applications are invited from motivated and inspirational colleagues who possess the leadership skills necessary to support the College in our pursuit of excellence and to drive further improvement.

All schools in The Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

About Okehampton College

Our purpose and mission is to best serve our students, their families and the wider Okehampton Community.  The ethos at Okehampton College is one of Support.  The dedicated staff are working together to identify and provide the assistance your child needs to maximise their achievements. We have high expectations for pupils and teachers alike to work together to ensure strong progress, from when pupils join us in Year 7, to when they leave us in Year 13.  We want to work with parents, carers, and families to give our pupils the best chance of success during what are very important years of their lives.

We are a vibrant academy, serving students aged 11-19, set on the edge of beautiful Dartmoor.   We are rooted in the community we serve and are committed to the development of our students’ character, as well as their academic achievements.

We are delighted to be part of the Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust.   This is allowing us to build strong links with our feeder primary schools, as well as allowing us to work more closely with our partner secondary schools, Holsworthy College and Tavistock College.  We believe achievement is not just about qualifications.  Personal Development is key to what we do. We are developing opportunities for students to play an active part in the school community in the form of student voice groups and working more closely with the community.  Our Local Stakeholder Body of Governors are knowledgeable, committed and a driven group who meet regularly to discuss and evaluate our needs and progress.

Fundamentally, we want our pupils to become independent, resourceful, and responsible citizens of the future, with broad experiences that enhance their time at Okehampton College, to give them the widest opportunity for future careers and life-long learning as well as giving them experiences or activities that might mould their futures.
