Learning is the heart of The International School of The Hague where we provide high quality learning opportunities that take place in a happy, healthy and safe learning environment. The direction of the school is driven by this purpose. ISH Secondary caters for nearly 1300 students in close collaboration with ISH Primary, which caters for around 600. As an inclusive international school with students representing over 90 different nationalities, and a staff body representing over 40 nationalities, we recognise the diverse and complex needs of our learners. We therefore engage all members of our community to ensure that all students are able to achieve their full potential during their time at ISH and to be responsible global citizens who are well prepared for life in an exponentially changing world.

The Vice Principal for Service and Experiential Learning is an exciting new role. It is a senior position, which is part of the secondary leadership team as well as the whole school leadership team for primary and secondary. Success in this role will necessitate strong working relationships with the Principal, Vice Principal Academic and Vice Principal Pastoral. Each Vice Principal is responsible for a strand of learning within the school and so the strong links at this level will help to ensure a holistic learning experience for all students in our community.

The successful candidate will have an excellent track record of leadership within this area. We provide students with a wide range of service and experiential learning opportunities through our extracurricular programme and also through Creativity, Activity and Service within the Diploma Programme, Service as Action within the Middle Years Programme and Service Learning through the Careers Programme. The Vice Principal for Service and Experiential Learning will provide strong leadership, strategy and vision to lead ISH is towards the forefront of international education in this field and to ensure that we meet the needs of all of the children in our care. Our local context within the beautiful city of The Hague further adds to our potential as we enjoy close proximity with a number of vital international organisations. In order to lead whole school improvement in this area, the successful candidate will be an inspiring and influential leader who can evidence initiatives and change that they have successfully lead in an international IB school environment and that have positively influenced not only their school, but also local and/or global communities.

The Vice Principal for Service and Experiential Learning will have the ability to use data and evidence effectively and appropriately in an IB school context to evaluate the effectiveness of current practice in order to lead whole school improvements. We aim to be an evidence based school that supports ongoing research, allowing us to make well informed decisions for our community that reflect up to date and effective practice. The Vice Principal Service and Experiential Learning will support and enable innovative educational projects and approaches that are inline with this aim. The successful candidate will be actively engaged in their own continuous professional learning thereby leading by example. They will provide leadership that promotes staff wellbeing as well as improving both student and staff outcomes.
