Job overview

Glenealy School is seeking to appoint two Vice Principals to join our talented and collaborative team. Vice Principal’s serve a critical role in enabling continuous quality improvement and support across all aspects of the school community. Reporting to the Principal, the posts require well-qualified and inspirational leaders, with the creativity and skills to lead, innovate and manage various aspects of the school’s provision with a focus on building excellent learning experiences for children.

Our school is situated in the Mid-Levels area of Hong Kong Island. The school is part of the English Schools Foundation (ESF), a significant leader of education in the region. Role Summary

  • Consistently champion and uphold the school’s core values and foster caring, positive relationships
  • Support the school's mission statement and IB Learner Profile
  • Develop and articulate a shared vision and strategic development plan for the school and lead colleagues in achieving this
  • Create an atmosphere of mutual trust where collaboration, discussion, debate, and teamwork are promoted within the school
  • Act as a pedagogical leader and model exemplary professional practice
  • Contribute to the development of the school’s learning community, fostering a spirit of inquiry, innovation, professional learning, and reflection
  • Promote high standards and expectations through supporting performance


Leadership

  • To be the Principal designate as required
  • To ensure quality teaching/learning and assessment
  • To develop teachers’ and educational assistants’ professional knowledge and skills
  • To develop and present effective staff development programs
  • To develop and present effective parent workshops and information sessions
  • To develop effective teams and ensure the successful implementation of the School Development Plan


School Management

  • To support the teaching and learning of students across the school
  • To support various aspects of school organisation
  • To lead the Primary Years Programme throughout the school
  • To actively lead curriculum development and improvement of student experiences across the school
  • To attend and lead collaborative planning as required
  • Ensure professional learning through collaboration and self-evaluation
  • To coach and mentor staff
  • To review teachers' planning as required

 

Requirements

  • Degree in education or equivalent
  • Evidence of further professional study
  • Recent senior leadership experience (previous VP experience / PYP experience desirable)
  • Understanding of PYP and/or inquiry-based learning
  • Understand the needs of students across all primary stages
  • Leadership and management skills
  • Ability to motivate, inspire and build capacity in others
  • Learning agility
  • Professional integrity
  • Commitment and passion for the education of young children
  • Visionary thinking / strategic orientation
  • A positive and optimistic outlook and warm personality
  • Problem Solving and reflection capabilities
