Aldar Education are currently seeking for an outstanding Vice Principal (Pastoral) for Mubarak Bin Mohammed Charter School for the start of the AY 2023-2024.

Successful candidates will have a ‘can do’ attitude, as life in a Charter School can

learning is clearly visible every day. A sense of humour is vital too!

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Under the direction of the Principal: 

• Support with the day to day management of the school 

• Communicate the school’s vision compellingly and support strategic leadership 

• Lead by example, holding and articulating clear values and moral purpose and focusing on providing excellent education for all students 

• Build positive relationships with all members of the school community, showing positive attitudes to them 

• Keep up to date with developments in education and have a good knowledge of education systems locally, nationally and globally 

• Work with political and financial astuteness, translating policy into the school’s context 

• Seek training and continuing professional development to meet own needs 


Students and staff 

Under the direction of the Principal: 

• Demand ambitious standards for all students, instilling a strong sense of accountability in staff for the impact of their work on student outcomes 

• Ensure excellent teaching in the school, including through training and development for staff 

• Establish a culture of ‘open classrooms’ as a basis for sharing best practice 

• Create an ethos within which all staff are motivated and supported to develop their skills and knowledge 

• Identify emerging talents, coaching current and aspiring leaders 

• Hold all staff to account for their professional conduct and practice 


Systems and processes 

Under the direction of the Principal: 

• Ensure that the school’s systems, organisation and processes are well considered, efficient and fit for purpose 

• Provide a safe, calm and well-ordered environment for all students and staff, addressing any underperformance, supporting staff to improve and valuing excellent practice. 

• Work with the School Governing Group as appropriate

• Support strategic, curriculum led financial planning to ensure effective use of budgets and resources 

• Support distribution of leadership throughout the school. 


• The self-improving school system 

• Under the direction of the Principal: 

• Create an outward facing school which works with other schools and organisations to secure excellent outcomes for all students 

• Develop effective relationships with fellow professionals 

• Model innovative approaches to school improvement and leadership 

• Inspire and influence others to believe in the fundamental importance of education in young people’s lives and to promote the value of education.


Specific Responsibilities:

• The strategic direction, leadership and performance management of the pastoral system incorporating behaviour, attendance, punctuality and student well-being

• Working closely with all stakeholders to ensure that all aspects of the pastoral system are effective

• Taking on the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead for the whole school 

• Leading all school-wide activities designed to enhance healthy lifestyles, extra-curricular activities, school visits etc.

• Arrangements for monitoring and quality control of the pastoral system

• Developing relevant policies, implementing record-keeping, tracking systems, and monitoring students whose high levels of personal support require continuing attention

• Briefing and motivating the Pastoral staff to operate the system effectively in their own areas of responsibility 

• All community links and social enterprise activities including those relating to charitable fund-raising 

• Managing and coordinating the Mubarak Bin Mohammed Charter School’s Award of Excellence

• Coordinating and monitoring the Enrichment Curriculum 

• Lead on parent liaisons, including Parent Council

• Lead on student leadership/voice, Moral Education and My Identity initiatives

• Line manage School Counsellor and learning mentors


Minimum Qualification and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or other  
  • relevant field with a teaching qualification. 
  • 10 years’ educational experience with a 
  • minimum of 3 years’ experience in a leadership role (Ex: Head of Department, Head of Subject, Head of specific grade level in education... etc.)

Or  

  • Postgraduate qualification in education or other qualification equivalent to QF Emirates level 8 or above. 
  • 8 years’ educational experience with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a leadership role (Ex: Head of Department, Head of Subject, Head of specific grade level in education... etc.)

And 

  • By passing an interview and meeting appropriate levels in Arabic and/ or English or the language applied in the curriculum of the school and determined by the relevant regulatory authority in UAE
