Job overview

An incredible senior leadership opportunity has arisen to drive forward education and transform the student experience at our college. Reporting to the Principal, the Vice Principal – Student Experience and Progression will work closely with the wider College Leadership Team to set and lead the strategic direction of the College and to determine and live the Christian ethos and values that underpin it.

This is a newly created role and provides a unique opportunity to:

  • Shape the student experience at our college and transform the lives of our students;
  • Deliver excellent pastoral care for our students;
  • Lead and develop high-performing student support teams; and
  • Develop innovative programmes and services to enable all students to thrive and flourish during their studies.

You will be responsible for driving improvement of the student experience through the journey from arrival to graduation. This includes how we communicate with our students, how we listen to our students and use the student voice to further improve what we do; and it includes how we further promote the excellent opportunities available to our students to engage and contribute to their own development during their studies.

We are committed to widening access and participation, and a key element of this role will be to ensure that the student experience is truly inclusive, and that students from a diverse range of backgrounds and with differing individual needs are given the right support to succeed in their studies.

The role will provide you with an excellent opportunity to build, shape and manage our student services functions; to develop and deliver projects and execute a programme of campaigns and events; and to shape innovative services which are essential to the continued development of the college.

We are looking for an innovative and experienced practitioner to join us who has already enjoyed success in a senior Leadership role with the performance improvement data to support this. You will be working closely with another Vice Principal who has responsibility for Curriculum, Quality and Innovation to lead and progress our College’s aspirations in partnership with a motivated and engaged College community that is thriving and forward looking despite the current challenges.

This is a key leadership role in our College, and as such, you must have a strong appreciation for, and knowledge of, the Catholic faith and be able to promote and support the Catholic ethos and values of the College. This would be an ideal opportunity for a Catholic to live out their core gospel values.

If this is you, we would love you to join us to further support the integration of our Christian ethos and mission across all we do.

The assessment process will be scheduled over two days during week commencing 11 October. On the first day there will be a number of assessments where you will get to meet our students, staff and governors. Successful candidates will then be invited back for a final interview the next day. In the event of high applications we may also undertake remote interviews, details of which will be confirmed following initial shortlisting.

The diocesan department defines a practising catholic as one who strives to live according to the teachings and doctrines of the church and normally would keep to the church’s precept of attending mass on Sundays and holidays of obligation, try’s to witness to their lives the reality of Christ’s presence amongst us and try to ensure there is no dichotomy between what they profess and what they live.
