Description The Catholic Schools Office is seeking a permanent full time Virtual Academy Coordinator to join the team. This position of Virtual Academy Coordinator will be offered on a 4 year basis, after this time the successful candidate will return to an available teaching position within the Diocese.



This positions attracts an allowance of 1pt in addition to the base salary of $7,993

This position is being offered to internal applicants only.
Position Requirements The position of Virtual Academy Coordinator is to work with students identified as highly/profoundly gifted (primarily Stages 3 and 4) and to support them in learning with autonomy and in engaging with intellectual peers and expert mentors.



We are seeking to appoint a highly effective, experienced and skilled teacher with a demonstrated record of excellence as an innovative teacher practitioner over the last five years and with proven success in creating cross curricula units of work for gifted students using the conceptual framework.

Essential Criteria • Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic education and the mission of the Church through Catholic schools

• Minimum four years successful teaching experience

• Demonstrated ability to initiate and drive change and ensure a culture of continuous improvement

• Demonstrated capacity to think and act strategically; to exercise sound judgement

• Demonstrated success in creating cross curricula units of work for gifted students using the conceptual framework

• Demonstrated ability to effectively utilise data to optimise organisational and educational outcomes

• High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to develop and sustain constructive and respectful relationships within and beyond the community

• Postgraduate qualifications in gifted education

• Willingness to Comply or Compliance with the CSO Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead Policy.

The applicant must provide evidence of the following:

• Qualifications as a four year trained teacher;

• Current NESA Accreditation;

• Current Paid Working with Children Check (WWCC)number;

• Completion of Anaphylaxis training.

The Catholic Schools Office (CSO), is responsible for the leadership, efficient operation and management of systemic schools which educate more than 18,000 students in 45 Primary schools, 10 Secondary schools and one K-12 school in the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle.
