Uppingham School has an exciting opportunity for an experienced double bassist to join our excellent musical team.

As a Visiting Music Teacher, you will teach students of different levels in an array of styles, preparing them for regular solo and ensemble performances as well as graded examinations and GCSE and A-Level recordings.

With demonstrable experience as a professional performer and an outstanding track record of instrumental teaching of different ages and abilities, we are looking for a personable, inspiring and supportive musician, who can motivate and engage pupils. 

Our class of double bass students is growing and from September may also include several pupils from affiliated local preparatory schools. In collaboration with the Head of Strings, you will draw on your experience as a performer and teacher to promote the double bass to new students, to foster continuity of study from prep-school to Uppingham, and to encourage greater double bass participation in multiple ensembles.

In the lessons observed, pupils worked very well with each other, and also worked well independently. They enjoy their work and this stems in part from the good-natured atmosphere in lessons.
