We are seeking an experienced and well qualified Visiting Tutor of Woodwind to join our thriving department from April 2020.
This is an exciting time to join a dynamic and busy department with high expectations of all students, with ample opportunity to build on the already established tuition timetable, and continuing to raise the already high profile of music within the school. Additionally, we have just announced that we are to become an All Steinway School from the summer term.
From April we require a Visiting Music Teacher to take over the Year 6 instrumental class tuition (clarinets and flutes), this is two 50-minute lessons on a Thursday afternoon (payment is £100 per week). The candidate will then be offered all of the current individual lessons from September (potentially earlier) which is currently just over half a day. All new applications for woodwind lessons will be offered to the new candidate to build their timetable. The junior school program gives the pupils the opportunity to learn orchestral instruments through years 4-6 and we envisage this will have a hugely positive impact on the uptake of these instruments in the coming months,
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering excellence in the teaching of the whole woodwind family, whilst being confident delivering both classical and jazz syllabuses.
All Visiting Music Teachers are required to work with individuals and small groups, and we hope to integrate a whole class woodwind project in the Junior School in the near future. It would be advantageous for the candidate to have experience of teaching from beginner to diploma level and beyond. VMTs at RAAS work as freelance teachers and invoice the parents directly at a recommended rate of £20 per 30-minute lesson.
Visiting Music Teachers must be enthusiastic and committed team members. Applications are welcome from experienced instrumental teachers who share the core educational values of the department and who are committed to excellence in the teaching, learning and well-being of young people.
