Job overview
We are seeking a motivated and proactive Visual Arts Technician to support the effective delivery of a high-quality visual arts provision, maintaining excellent standards and practice. The role is part-time (hours to be agreed) for 39 weeks per year (term time only).
The ideal applicant will have basic technical know-how and a keen interest in the use and maintenance of relevant Art, Textile and Photography equipment, materials and tools. In addition, the ability to understand and apply workshop practice and health and safety is essential, though training will be provided to support the successful applicant. You will be responsible for the day-to-day provision of technical support to the Department.
The thriving Arts and Technology Faculty runs highly successful examination courses in a number of specialisms at GCSE and A Level, along with an extensive extra-curricular programme in Art, Textiles, Design Technology, Graphics and Photography. George Abbot has a reputation for excellence in these curriculum areas, and our students often take part in national and regional exhibitions and competitions and are regularly successful. The Arts are popular subjects at George Abbot School, with large numbers at KS4 and KS5 alongside a rich KS3 programme for all students.
