The Wellbeing and Counselling Advisor will provide high quality, confidential, time-bound Counselling and Pastoral support for students experiencing emotional difficulties. Working in line with service referral thresholds and BACP guidelines, you will provide responsive and flexible financial support in the Student Support Centre and liaise with students, staff and external organisations to safeguard students through a holistic package of support (including enrichment) tailored to meet their needs.

So if you hold a qualification in Counselling at Diploma Level and have significant experience of providing a professional Counselling/Wellbeing service, preferably in an educational/FE environment with young people and/or adults, then we would love to hear from you!

You’ll need to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to include empathy, discretion and confidentiality with both internal and external customers. You’ll have the ability to build strong relationships and rapport with a wide range of customers and have experience of liaising with specialist external agencies. We’d also like you to have knowledge of safeguarding practices, external support agencies, data protection regulations and referral procedures in relation to student information and promote a customer focused approach throughout all delivery practices. A BACP accreditation or equivalent would be a distinct advantage, however this is not essential.

This position is based at Kingston College.

This position is permanent, part time for 17 hours per week. There is potential for the hours to be increased depending on funding.
