The successful applicant will be an experienced School Nurse. He/she will facilitate positive student responses to normal development; promote health and safety; intervene with actual and potential health problems; provide case management services; and actively collaborate with others to build student and family capacity for adaption, self-management, self-advocacy, and learning.

What will you do on a day-to-day basis?

The School Nurse is the health care representative on site and the successful candidate will:      

  • Promote an optimal level of wellness of students and staff providing preventive health services to facilitate the students and staff's optimal physical, mental, emotional and social growth and development    
  • Identify health problems and disabilities and provide services such  as case finding, health education, referring, and care in order to help prevent serious health problems and manage current chronic conditions.    
  • Provide ongoing health issues with students, parents, school personnel or health agencies/GGD  
  • Maintain, evaluate, and interpret cumulative health data to accommodate individual needs of students  
  • Plan and implement school health management protocols  
  • Provide health education and anticipatory guidance  
  • Serve as a resource person to the school staff members in health instruction  
  • Coordinate school and community health activities and serve as a liaison health professional between the home, school and community  
  • Provides consultation in the formation of health policies, goals and objectives for the school district  
  • Being aware and mindful of medical GPDR rules

What will you bring to the table?

The ideal candidate for this role will have the following skills, experience and qualifications:         

  • Qualified Nurse and qualified to practice as a School Nurse  
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in public or private health nursing  
  • Pediatric nursing and school nurse experience is an advantage  
  • Excellent fluency in English (verbal and written)  and Dutch is an advantage
  • Knowledge of principles and practices underlying professional nursing  
  • Knowledge of principles and practices underlying the special field of school health  
  • Knowledge of current trends in nursing and of literature in the fields of school health  
  • Knowledge of organisation and administration of other cooperating agencies  
  • Knowledge of state and local laws relating to health and social issues
