Global and School academic results

The 2021-22 school year was one of the strongest ever in terms of Nord Anglia Education’s academic results. In the IB DP, our students achieved a 35.1 global point average with BISW achieving 34.3, both far exceeding the global average of 31.9. The latest IGCSE cohort, with 2,351 students across 41 Nord Anglia schools, achieved an outstanding set of results, with 53% of grades at A* – A and at BISW 56% of grades at A*- A.

Able to adapt quickly to our fast-paced international environment, you possess a university degree in your specialist subject, a recognised teaching qualification, and considerable teaching experience. Committed and creative, you will be reflective on teaching and student outcomes, seeking out and implementing new ideas and innovative methods to raise the level of achievement.

Keen to collaborate and share your specialist expertise, you will be a fitting ambassador for the school. You will communicate with confidence across diverse audiences and situations, using your expertise to build strong relationships with parents and students. You will meet visa-related/work restrictions for the USA (non-US permanent residents must be British with qualified teacher status).

Selection Process

The closing date for application is April 29th, 2023. There will be two stages of interview, including an in-person interview if possible. However decisions will be made on a rolling basis so early application is advisable.

British International School Washington (BISW) is a mixed, non-denominational all-through school with sixth form situated in Washington DC, United States of America. It is an independent school that holds the status of an International Baccalaureate (IB) World school, with IB Middle Years and Primary Curricula. It caters for around 550 students across over 70 nationalities with students between the ages of 2-18. Its languages of instruction are English, Spanish, French and German. It is a member of Nord Anglia Education Schools, a family of 85 international boarding and private schools in 33 different countries around the globe, educating a total of 75,000 pupils throughout all its schools. The school offers IGCSE qualifications for its students.

The school was opened in September 1998, relocating to its current location in Georgetown in the northwest area of the city in 2008, sharing property with Georgetown University. BISW became a member of Nord Anglia Education in 2013. Since 2015, it has had a partnership with Julliard School for the formation of The Julliard-North Anglia Performing Arts Program, an innovative performing arts program for pupils in its higher years.
