Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a Care Assistant for our wraparound provision (before and after the school day). This role could be carried out by one person or, alternatively, we are happy to accept applications for just the afternoon slot or just the morning slot.

Contract

• Permanent

• Term time only

• To start 02/09/22

Hours of work: 

• 20 per week 

• 7:50am to 8:50am Monday to Friday 

• 3pm to 6pm Monday to Friday 


Main areas of Responsibility

Your responsibilities will include: 

• To assist in the preparation of breakfast, and snacks, cleaning away, and washing up
when required. 

• To be responsible for a group of children as designated by the Leader. 

• To assist in ensuring that the children are safe at all times and drawing attention to the Leader of any likely causes of danger. 

• To attend occasional staff meetings. 

• To attend training sessions occasionally, if required, at a mutually agreed time and date. 

• To undertake any other task as required by management within the purpose of the job. 

• To accompany the children on outings, accepting responsibility for the whereabouts and safety of a designated small group of children. 

• To inform the Leader immediately of any incident which could be detrimental to the well-being of any child within the Club’s care. 

• To offer ideas and participate in new and improved play activities. This will involve offering a weekly activity, e.g. arts and crafts, physical, cooking, etc.

Qualifications & Experience

• NVQ Level 2 in Early Years / Play-work / Teaching Assistant or equivalent (desirable not essential)

• First Aid Certificate (or willingness to acquire) 

• Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to acquire) 

• Experience of working with children of relevant age (desirable not essential)

• Experience of working with children who may have additional needs (desirable not essential)

• The ability to encourage and inspire young people 

• Good organisational skills 

• The ability to use own initiative 

• The ability to work in a flexible way
