Job overview

Due to the growth of the school, we are looking to appoint an additional teacher, this teacher will take our Y5 class in 2019-20, moving up to Y6 with them in 2020-21. All of our Y5/6 teachers work on this 2-year rotation, so you may then return to Y5 or try another year group.

MCPA is a 2-form entry school but this year group uniquely only has 1 class, you will share your class with a salaried trainee in 2019-20 whom you will mentor.

This role includes a leadership bursary; this may be for the year group; supporting the phase 3 lead; leading a subject across school or a school improvement project. It will be discussed and negotiated at interview, based upon your strengths and growth areas. At MCPA we are extremely keen to develop future leaders of education, so you will be supported on this journey.

Who are we?

Manchester Communication Primary Academy opened its doors in September 2014 to a small cohort of EYFS/Y1 children, since then it has grown by a 2-form year group each year. The school is approaching capacity with our first cohort of Y6 in place in September.

Our last Ofsted inspection graded the school as ‘Good’ in all areas, MCPA is ‘a school with a ‘heart’; a kind, caring and supportive community. There are 25 different languages spoken yet every pupil is treated as a member of the same family.’ (Ofsted 2017)

The school has a vibrant and inclusive environment; parents are well engaged, staff and children enjoy working and learning at the school. Teachers at the school are well supported; We use ‘Maths No Problem’, ‘Read Write Inc’ and ‘Talk for Writing’ approaches to support our teaching in being the best it can be. Teachers are however encouraged to develop their own individual styles.

Who are we looking for?

First and foremost, we are looking for an excellent teacher with successful experience of teaching upper key stage 2 and leadership potential. You may have several years’ experience in a school and be looking for a new challenge, or you may have been teaching for a few years and be looking to take your first step in a leadership role. This role isn’t suitable for newly or recently qualified teachers.

We are looking to appoint someone who holds our values of honesty, trustworthiness, bravery and helpfulness to become an inspiring teacher and leader.

When does the role start?

The start-date for the role is the 1st of September 2019, although as our children move up to their new year groups on July the 1st, an earlier move could be negotiated.

If I’m still interested, what should I do next?

We think that applying for a new role should always be seen as a 2-way process, you have to be right for us, but the school also has to be right for you. So if you are interested in applying, please do feel free to get in touch, come for a look around, or have a chat about the role.

Closing Date: Monday 25th March 2019

Interviews: Tuesday 2nd April 2019
