Job overview

We are the Stephen Perse Foundation. Extraordinary things happen here every day.

The Stephen Perse Foundation is inspiring. It is a community in which everyone, staff or student, achieves and makes a contribution every day.

By teaching students to think for themselves, we achieve exceptional results – but for us, education is not just about grades. We see the individual behind the results. We develop strength of character, a sense of social responsibility and an ability to innovate and collaborate. We look for and develop this added value with our staff as well as our students.

A global outlook, a focus on pedagogy, a ground-breaking commitment to digital learning and an emphasis on inspirational learning environments make us different. More than that, our policy of 'looking beyond' underpins education here. Co-curricular learning is integral to what we do, where opportunity and excellence are valued and encouraged.

Our community, led by the Principal, Miss Tricia Kelleher, is made up of a family of six different schools, each with its own Head, comprising 1,100 boys and girls aged 3 to 18, around 150 teaching staff and 145 support staff.

With an Exceptional ISI Inspection report in 2014 and Independent School of the Year 2014/5, we have much to be proud of as we continue our journey.

However, we know that education in the twenty-first century is as much about looking forward as looking back. We have just completed a pioneering redevelopment plan, which includes a five-storey sports and learning centre in the heart of Cambridge. We have also admitted boys to our Senior School as of 2017, offering them access to the same exceptional education as girls.

By celebrating diversity and collaboration in school and with our wider community we encourage students to choose a path that is right for them. We recognise potential in every child and inspire young people to achieve their dreams - guiding them every step of the way.

Location: City Pre-Prep, Cambridge

About the Pre-Prep:

The Pre-Prep is one school, 8 classes, based over two sites. One in the idyllic rural setting of Madingley and the other in Cambridge City centre. Opened in 2012, our City Pre-Prep shares a site  shares a site with our Junior School. It's the best of both worlds - the security of a Pre-Prep combined with the stimulation of a big school and the wider city.

We have our own entrance on Brookside and dedicated classrooms and outside areas – to give our smallest pupils their own space for games and simply being together. Everything Cambridge offers is on hand, from the University Botanic Gardens to museums and exhibitions. Our nature reserve is in easy walking distance, as is our five-acre sports field at Latham Road.

We are ideally looking for someone with experience teaching Year 2 who can join our KS1 team and bring new ideas and practice to our staff. Parental relationships are key to supporting learning so with all classrooms opening with teachers at 8am we can settle children into informal activities before registration at 8:45am.

As a staff of reflective practitioners we are always looking for ways to improve and develop our learning environments, lessons and pedagogy to make the best school for our learners. Do look at the person specification for further desirable qualities but if you like the sound of us then always apply as we are open to different strengths and happy to support professional development. Our website will also give you a great feel for who we are and what we believe in or come and visit us to see for yourself.

Role Description: To promote effective learning, appropriate achievement and educational, social and personal progress of all Year 2 pupils, consistent with the aims of the school and the unique needs of each individual.

The Stephen Perse Foundation

The Stephen Perse Foundation is a family of independent schools combining excellent results and achievement alongside personal wellbeing located across Cambridge and Saffron Walden; educating boys and girls from nursery to sixth form where students gain an exceptional skill set that supports ambition, nurtures talent, encourages creativity and critical thinking leading to success and self-fulfilment.

Stephen Perse Nurseries & Early Years - Madingley

At our Cambridge Madingley site we offer the following classes – Baby, Toddler, Rising three's and Kindergarten.

In each class the children’s learning opportunities and experiences are aimed at developing the skills they need to be successful. Through having each of these classes in our early years provision we can plot a child’s learning journey knowing what they need in Reception and discovering how best to support them in achieving ‘school readiness’.

We think that life is an adventure and we help our boys and girls to embrace it with confidence, independence and joy. While our nursery at Madingley has its own unique personality and features, it shares the same commitment to play-based learning and development, the same approach to health and nutrition, and the same exceptional level of childcare as the other Stephen Perse Nurseries.

Children at Madingley forge a strong connection with nature and the environment thanks to the outdoor play areas and on-site Forest School. Combined with the beautiful buildings we occupy, it’s the perfect place for our nursery children to develop and learn.

Facilities at Madingley

Our nursery for ages 1-3 is located in a beautiful lodge, full of creative spaces and cozy areas. Our Kindergarten and Reception classrooms are in a picturesque Victorian schoolhouse, along with a light, spacious hall.

Our large playground has climbing frames and balance equipment, perfect for improving coordination and burning off energy, and our garden includes sensory play areas including a mud kitchen.

Surrounded by nature, we offer lots of opportunities for children to explore the world around them, including our on-site Forest School.
