Rydal Penrhos comprises Rydal Penrhos Preparatory School (2 – 11) and the Senior School (11-18) and follows Wales’ Maintained Schools’ salary structure. Staff are expected to contribute to the school’s full pastoral and enrichment programme.

Due to rapid growth of the School over the last year, the School is looking to appoint another Year 2 Teacher to cope with the growing demand for places within the School. The successful applicant will be an organised and creative Key Stage 1 Teacher who believes in teaching 'the whole child' and supporting their mental and physical health. All applicants should have experience teaching in Key Stage 1.

Description: We are looking for a dedicated, innovative and inspiring professional to fit into our well established staff team. Someone who wants to help provide a happy, secure and stimulating environment and promotes discovery and values the love of learning.

This is a friendly, open environment in which children develop self-confidence and feel a great sense of belonging. The school nurtures active learning, inquisitiveness, and natural progression. This position is suitable for Newly Qualified Teachers.

Rydal School was founded in 1885 by Thomas Osborn as a boys’ boarding school in the Methodist tradition. Penrhos College had been founded five years earlier, in 1880, by Thomas Payne as a girls’ boarding school, also in the Methodist tradition. In 1999, the two schools merged into a single foundation called Rydal Penrhos.

Rydal Penrhos offers education for boys and girls from age 2 to 18 years old. Our Methodist values strongly shape our perception of who we are as a school and what we should be. Therefore, we measure our performance on the individual improvement of each pupil and Value added. This focus on individuals rather than statistics allows our school to take an intentionally inclusive approach; our concern is less on being a certain kind of school than it is on creating a particular sort of person; the kind that can work for themselves while helping those around them, approaching the wider world with confidence, resilience and caring. This is the aim of our teaching, monitoring and support.

There is a rich extra-curricular programme of games, music, drama, art, and activities to support this ethos and the school’s idyllic location between the sea and the mountains means that sailing and outdoor education are important elements of this. Cultural, technical, community and creative options are also well represented.

The School currently numbers around 475. The school is a member of the Society of Heads of Independent Schools, the Independent Schools' Bursars Association, the Independent Association of Prep Schools and an associate member of the Methodist Independent Schools group.
