Year 3 SEN Teaching Assistant

Hammersmith & Fulham

£60 - £80 per day PAYE

September 2021 – July 2022

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position is Level 3 or degree equivalent.

The role

Smart Teachers are recruiting for a full time Year 3 SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a three-form entry school in Hammersmith & Fulham. The suitable candidate will be working with a Year 3 pupil with ASD. The pupil is verbal and enjoys communicating with adults, however, tends to be disruptive if he does not feel comfortable due to his sensitivity with clothing and external sounds. The ideal Year 3 SEN TA will have patience, behaviour management skills and the ability to help the pupil concentrate on the tasks at hand. Teachers and support staff have noticed that using the pupils interests usually help, for example his love of drums and football.  There will be no personal care required. This would be a fabulous opportunity for a Psychology graduate who wishes to pursue a career in Educational Psychology or an individual who wishes to pursue a career in Education. Experience working with challenging behaviours and ASD is ideal.

The school

The school has been rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted and we have received extremely positive feedback from staff who have worked there before. The Year 3 staff team are extremely bubbly, young hearted and seek positivity in all they do. The Year 3 SEN Teaching Assistant will enjoy the team they will be working closely with and will have lots of encouragement and support. Each classroom is fitted with AC and all classrooms have access to the outdoor courtyard. This is an ideal space where the Year 3 SEN pupil goes to take a break from work/as a reward for good behaviour.   There are many opportunities to progress within the school with the regular CPD courses, whereby the leadership wish to better each member of staff which will ultimately transfer onto the pupils’ education.  The suitable Year 3 SEN Teaching will be surrounded by great facilities, including their extensive grounds and colourful classrooms, each fitted with interactive white boards. The school is surrounded by various transport links.

Requirements

To be considered for the Year 3 SEN Teaching Assistant , you must:

• Level 3 or degree equivalent qualification

• Have recent experience supporting KS2, ideally Year 3

• Have experience with SEN, ideally challenging behaviours

• Have recent or past experience working in Primary
