Job overview

New school, exciting curriculum and a unique opportunity

So not a magic weaver - but we thought you might miss our KS2 teacher ad.

You could be the final piece in our primary team next year. We are a new school ,which if you read on you will see, is going to be the largest school in Slough in the future. But right now we have a small team in primary and are ensuring we are developing our curriculum offer for our students that will set them up ready for the future. You might not need a wand but we want you to think outside of the box and maybe have magical ideas.

We want you to join us on our journey in developing a new school which focuses not only on high academic expectations but also on developing the skills pupils need for the future workplace through an exciting Project Based Learning curriculum.

We are looking for someone who will feel part of our Grove family, share our vision and will enjoy working with us. We are looking for a teacher who is excited by a new challenge. Grove Academy can offer you unique experiences and hopefully fun!

Grove Academy is an all through school which opened in 2017 with both primary and secondary classes and will grow each year to a full capacity of 1,940 including a 6th form.

Our project based curriculum is developing via ‘Big Questions’ and enables all pupils to place their learning within a real life context with concrete experiences. We are working closely with local businesses and organisations to ensure that our pupils leave Grove Academy with the skills and character that employers seek. You could help us develop that curriculum, creating exciting experiences and happy memories for our pupils.

Grove is attempting to blur the lines between primary and secondary so that we can learn from the best practices of both. As a result staff can work with colleagues from different phases and help us shape an unusual offer for our pupils. Our new school building has been designed to ensure that we can work as one school, with one vision.

What can we offer you?

• A place where you will feel valued for your hard work

• Experiences you cannot get anywhere else

• Innovative CPD packages because we want to invest in you

• As the school grows so will the leadership pathways available to suitable candidates because our philosophy is to ‘grow our own’ where possible

We are looking for a teacher who:

• Has the imagination to help develop our project based learning curriculum.

• Is excited by the chance to be with us at the beginning of this amazing journey.

• Recognises they need to be flexible as the school grows and in turn we will provide experiences they cannot get anywhere else.

• Who can also make learning fun!

Can you think outside of the box and see this as a fantastic opportunity to help us create a magical curriculum? If so …. Grove Academy is the place for you!

Interested?

We strongly recommend that you ring to discuss the post further, please contact Ms Andrea Fricker, Principal, at jobs@groveacademy.co.uk. If you email with your telephone number a member of the team will try to ring you back. Your next job is an important step and we want to ensure we are the right place for you. We are currently in temporary accommodation in the centre of Slough whilst a new school is built in the west of the town. Please see the application pack for details of the exciting design for the new school. Now that will be magical!

Grove Academy is the first all-through school to open in Slough and provides opportunity and education for 4 to 16 year olds, underpinned by high-quality teaching and learning and a common assessment framework. This continuity ensures that we can avoid the dips in performance associated with transition from one phase or school to another.

As one school we are able to teach subjects to our younger children via specialist subject teachers, such as modern foreign languages and PE. We can provide pastoral care for children in challenging circumstances by offering a ‘joined-up’ strategy and support families more consistently over a longer time.

Staff say - "I am proud to be a staff member at Grove"

Parents say - "We are really happy and proud that our child goes to Grove Academy"

Students say - "Grove has really kind teachers who care about their students"

Our Vision, Aims & Ethos:

Grove Academy is a school where every child can feel welcome, successful and included. We want our pupils to:

· Be responsible, fully active citizens who are kind to one another, ready to learn, know how to keep themselves safe and are proud of their achievements

· Develop the confidence to participate in decision making, and have a creative input across the three areas of family well-being, public service and contribution to the economy

· Engage in a curriculum which will encourage problem solving, critical reflection, research and challenge

· Leave school confident in their ability to succeed and able to successfully access the  world of work or further/higher education

· Be able to learn new skills and engage in business markets that no one is yet able to define

· Be the future leaders of our society

· Recognise the importance of creativity and innovation to their future lives
