The Trustees of the Royal Grammar School, Guildford are delighted to have established the RGS’s first international School, known as the Royal Grammar School, Guildford in Qatar. The first phase has been to create a British curriculum, co-educational prep school, led by the Head of School, Mr Alistair Downs, which opened in September 2016 with the Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1. Having established an excellent team of staff, outstanding facilities and a lovely cohort of pupils and parents, the School was delighted to be awarded the prestigious ‘Best New Start Up Business in Qatar 2016’ award from the Qatar British Business Forum. The School’s focus is now on growing our numbers in EYFS and Key Stage 1, and introducing our Key Stage 2 classes for September 2017.

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional, passionate and motivated Year 5/6 Teacher to join our growing team of outstanding educators at the Royal Grammar School, Guildford in Qatar. This will be a split class of students in both Year 5 and Year 6.

The successful candidates will have the requisite experience, personality and approach to inspire, challenge and motivate children through the successful delivery of the Year 5/6 Curriculum and ensure that planning, preparation, recording, assessment and reporting meet their varying learning and social needs of the pupils; maintain the positive ethos and core values of the school, both inside and outside the classroom; contribute to constructive team-building amongst teaching and non-teaching staff, parents and governors; The Teacher might also be able to offer a subject specialism to different Year Groups. The Teacher will offer a range of extra-curricular activities.

The Royal Grammar School Guildford Qatar in Um Salal Mohammed, Qatar, is an international independent school for boys aged 3-18. The school is part of the Royal School, Guildford and Lanesborough Preparatory School in Surrey, England.

The school, which opened in 2016, aims to achieve academic excellence through the provision of a challenging British curriculum and outstanding teaching. The language of instruction is English, and while not mandatory, students are also encouraged to take Arabic. 

The Royal Grammar School Guildford Qatar aims to provide a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities as part of building its students life skills and helping them to develop their social, sporting and cultural abilities. By September the amenities available will include will include basketball and volleyball courts, a football field, a large fully equipped sports hall and an all-year round swimming pool.
