Job overview

Year 6 Class Teacher (Maternity Cover)

We are looking for a Year 6 Class Teacher for maternity cover, starting immediately, initially until the end of the Summer Term 2017. This is a wonderful  opportunity to join Babington House, a thriving Independent Day School in Chislehurst rated "Excellent" in all areas and across every age group from 3 to 18 years at inspection by the ISI in November 2016.

Babington House has the luxury of having many resources available for their teachers to use and enjoy teachers being creative with the resources to engage all learners.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Primary teacher who has high expectations of themselves and their students. You will be teaching a mixed one form entry class and you will be able to confidently and independently plan, prepare and deliver outstanding lessons that focus on progressing students through informative and engaging class work. You will also need to be able to work as part of a team and will need to be confident whilst speaking with parents and external agencies.

Ideally you will be confident in teaching the core subjects and will feel passionate about extending pupil's academic abilities. You will be working closely with hard-working staff who will offer support and advice. Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) and UK experienced Overseas Trained Teachers are encouraged to apply too.

It is desirable but not essential that you have Key Stage 2 SATs experience, but the school is looking for someone who would welcome the challenge of a Year 6 class.

This is a really exciting time for Babington House School with growing pupil numbers.  This growth is providing opportunities for new staff to join this friendly and supportive team, working with delightful children in small classes in a highly successful and progressive school.

This is an exciting time for Babington House School with growing pupil numbers.  This growth is providing opportunities for new staff to join this friendly and supportive team, working with delightful children in small classes in a highly successful and progressive school.

Babington House School strives for academic rigour in all areas but also believes in developing the whole child, encouraging pupils to become confident, enabled young people.

Our commitment is to provide an academic and well-rounded education with small class sizes which is tailored to the needs of our pupils, believing that bright children benefit from carefully monitored and well directed learning, where self-discipline is highly prized and where each pupil is known as an individual.  This helps Babington House pupils grow into confident, accomplished, creative young people with emotional intelligence and high standards.

Babington is an academic school.  Our academic, social and sporting endeavours are underpinned by core Christian values which include a respect for others and an awareness of a purpose greater than ourselves.  Teachers get to know their pupils well and lasting friendship are formed amongst the children, creating a strong school community.

We are committed to outstanding sport, music, drama, and the arts in their broadest sense and we offer many clubs, societies and extra-curricular opportunities which go on before, during and after school.  There is also a happy hour each Friday after school for staff and staff socials!

Teachers inspire pupils from the Sixth Form right down to the Nursery and achieve excellent results. Over the past three years, A-Level pupils have achieved 80% A* to B grades and Babington’s Early Years provision has been top of the Bromley Borough league tables.

The Senior School is academically selective with an Entrance Examination for Year 7 entry. In the Sixth Form, the focus very much on A-level study in small sets whilst at the same time providing the opportunity for work experience, something that will help their university applications stand out and provide great self-confidence.
