Job overview

About the role: Horsmonden Primary Academy has a rare and exciting opportunity to appoint a Year 6 Teacher who will join us from January 2020. In joining our vibrant and thriving school, you will contribute your energy and vision to drive the academy to achieve its full potential. Your teaching responsibility will be within Year 6, therefore, upper Key Stage 2 experience is essential. You will receive the support and guidance you need to not only develop the school but also your own career within the supportive environment of the Trust.

The successful applicant will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to make a full contribution to their Key Stage, curriculum development and staff teams. We welcome applications from newly qualified teachers, and those with more experience.  In return, we will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to develop their career.

What we will expect of you:

We will expect you to successfully plan and deliver outstanding lessons on a daily basis that significantly advance each childs’ development.  We anticipate you will achieve this by being organised, caring and enthusiastic in everything you do.

As part of Leigh Academies Trust you will also be expected to collaborate with your peers both within the academy and across the whole Trust.  This is an important part of our vision as we know through experience that we perform better when we work together. You will also be expected to undertake regular self development to continue your professional development and hopefully progress further within the organisation.

We want you to be passionate in your pursuit of progress for each and every one of your children so that they can achieve the progress they deserve and grow into young adults that will go on to be successful students at secondary school. Each and every member of staff, regardless of their position or seniority, is expected to participate in the overall running of the school and to act as a positive role model for our students.  In and out of the classroom you will encourage and promote positive behaviour and effectively manage any situation that threatens to impact on the progress of other students.

As an employee of Leigh Academies Trust you will be expected to understand and to adhere with Academy and Trust wide policies as well as suggest improvements where necessary. One thing you will never do is compromise on the safety of our students or fail to act on any safeguarding issue that you encounter. As part of one of the most successful multi-academy Trusts in the UK it goes without saying that we will expect you to go above and beyond the call of duty from time to time and undertake any other reasonable duties necessary to achieve our vision and goals.

If you have any queries regarding any aspect of the application process or need additional information about the role, please contact the Talent Team on 01634 412 240 or talent@latrust.org.uk

Working with Leigh Academies Trust: As of September 2019, our Trust is comprised of 25 geographically organised academies (11 secondaries, 13 primaries and 1 special) educating over 15,000 students, and employing over 2,500 talented staff.  We also have three further academies in development phase, due to open between September 2020-2021. The Trust is establishing four ‘clusters’ of academies: North West Kent; Central Kent; South East London; Medway. In addition, the Trust is responsible for one of the region’s biggest initial teaching training providers and a large teaching school.

As part of Leigh Academies Trust you will have ample opportunity to collaborate with your peers both within the academy and across the whole Trust.  This is an important part of our vision as we know through experience that we perform better when we work together. You are supported to undertake regular self-development to continue your professional development and hopefully progress further within the organisation.

We strive to offer a range of benefits that all employees can take advantage of which we regularly review and add to - click here to view what you’d receive as a member of staff with Leigh Academies Trust.

Diversity at our core: As a Trust, we are passionate about diversity and recognise that as individuals we all bring something unique to the role regardless of age, gender, race, beliefs or disabilities which is why we treat all of our people equally, without compromise.

The academy is committed to safeguarding children and successful candidates will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check. Our commitment to safeguarding is underpinned by robust processes and checks which are in place across the Trust.

Here at Horsmonden Primary Academy, our aim is to encourage lifelong learning and develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring individuals that understand the world around them while demonstrating respect. It is important to us all that Horsmonden children are prepared for life outside Horsmonden and that journey starts the minute they walk through our doors.

Our curriculum is framed by the Primary Years Programme, from the International Baccalaureate and we strongly believe in the 10 learner profile attributes. They represent the capacities and responsibilities for intellectual, personal, emotional and social growth. Together, staff and children are inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced and reflective.
