Lead Teacher - Year Group (TLR3)

Kennedy School (KS) is an IB World School utilising the Primary Years Programme (PYP) curriculum framework. Teaching and learning at KS is underpinned by a rigorous and student-centred approach to curriculum, pedagogy and practice.


Requirements

The Year Group Leader will be a passionate, collaborative, enthusiastic and exemplary classroom practitioner who values inclusion. They will model, encourage and advocate for rigorous standards and quality learning and teaching to ensure the best possible outcomes for the students in their class and across the year group. The Year Group Leader will be a pedagogical leader who shapes and influences continuous improvement and best teaching practice across a year level. 

In addition to your own class teaching accountabilities, you will also have responsibility for leading and managing one of the year group teams; consisting of 4 teachers plus assigned educational assistants.

Year Group Leaders at Kennedy School are an integral part of the school’s extended leadership and management team (ELMT). You will work closely with the Principal, Vice Principals and Head of SEN to set strategic direction and help the community realise Kennedy School’s mission of: Inspire, Achieve, Excel.

Essential Criteria

  • Qualified teacher status
  • Exemplary classroom practitioner 
  • Clear understanding of leadership philosophy 
  • Evidence of leadership and experience of building successful and progressive teams
  • High emotional intelligence and self-awareness
  • Exemplary knowledge of high quality pedagogy and assessment practices
  • Ability to mentor/coach staff
  • This position is not suitable for newly qualified teachers (NQT)
  • Evidence of on-going professional development and professional/personal reflection
  • Committed to supporting children’s individual needs and a belief in inclusive  practices

 

Desirable Criteria

  • Primary Years Programme (PYP) curriculum experience
  • Experience in similar role
  • Experience of more than one curriculum model
  • International and home teaching experience

Music, Performing Arts and Physical Education are strengths of the school. A strong interest in environmental and ecological issues is also a theme of the learning. 

We offer a high-quality, modern, liberal education based on the IB PYP which is adapted to meet the needs of children living in Asia. 

All children receive regular swimming lessons in terms one and three. The school provides daily Mandarin lessons for all students and also offers a very rich and varied extra-curricular programme.
