Dear applicant,

Due to the recent internal promotion of one of our Year Leaders, we now have a new vacancy as a Year Leader at St Nicholas Catholic High School. The contract is to ideally start in September 2023 or January 2024 depending on the availability of the successful candidate. Applications are welcome from any subject areas and from candidates with a faith background or a willingness to be supportive of our Catholic school status. Furthermore, early applications are encouraged as the school reserves the right to close the advert before the specified closing date.

We are an excellent Catholic school with a fantastic reputation for the very highest of standards, outstanding students who are eager to learn and exceptional staff who walk the ‘extra mile’ to ensure that every student in our care lives life and lives it to the full.

We are looking to appoint a Year Leader with a passion and vision for delivering a quality learning experience, in all spheres of school life, for all students in their Year Group. This experience will be underpinned by the Year Leader’s unwavering commitment and belief in every child’s ability to succeed. The successful candidate will join a vibrant, forward thinking, and progressive school which is keen to build upon the many successes within the school’s external inspection reports from both the Diocese and Ofsted.

St Nicholas continues to make significant progress with the continuous development of the curriculum we deliver to our students. The successful candidate will also benefit from teaching in a department which offers comprehensive and robust schemes of learning, incisive planned assessments, and is fully resourced. Coupled with this is an unequivocal commitment to the bespoke professional development of every member of our teaching staff.

St Nicholas Catholic High School is a mixed catholic secondary school and sixth form for pupils aged 11-18. It is located in Northwich, Cheshire, and caters for approximately 1,250 pupils.

The school opened as a secondary modern in 1965, becoming a comprehensive school in 1972. It is a voluntary-aided school.

As a Catholic School, Gospel values permeate all the work undertaken in St Nicholas Catholic High School.  Pupils are encouraged to recognise the importance of education in their own fulfillment as well as for the betterment of society.

The school aims to nurture students’ faith through liturgical celebration, and provides pupils with opportunities to take part in retreats. St Nicholas welcomes the views of parents, and considers them to be central to the successful education of their children.
