Year Leader

We are seeking to recruit a Year Leader to support the teaching team in one of our year groups in our Early Years department or Primary school. The year leader in our school is the central figure who communicates with staff, parents and the senior leadership team. Key responsibilities include coaching and mentoring teachers and to support the well-being and learning of the children in the year group. This position would suit middle leaders or expert teachers who wish to develop their leadership further.

Depending on qualities, competences and expertise, you could also be considered to lead the learning support department where you would be responsible for ensuring all children on the Primary SEN/Talented and able Register can access the curriculum to the best of their abilities and thereby make suitable progress. The candidate will need to be able to work closely alongside our school Counselors. The responsibility involves managing a small team of teaching assistants and co-teachers. prioritising support for students with a wide range of needs, including dyslexia, autism, global developmental delay and other learning needs. Some 1:1 and small group teaching will be involved, as well as planning and leading staff training. There is also a strong emphasis on working with families, in a culture which is only just beginning to embrace additional needs in the mainstream.

The position is available for January 2022. This position will report to the Head of Primary.

Whilst, compared to many other countries, living costs in Malaysia are very competitive and our package allows for a comfortable standard of living and includes Flight allowance, Medical Insurance, Children Education Benefit and a cash housing allowance.
