ADSL-upgraded exchanges

* Great news for (almost) anyone who wants broadband in their home. BT has now scrapped its old rule that your home had to be within 6km of an ADSL-upgraded exchange. Now, says BT, if your home is served by an upgraded exchange, you can have it - although it adds that some homes may need to have some modifications to their line. BT says it now brings ADSL to within reach of 96 per cent of the population, and that 3.3 million in the UK access broadband services via its lines, with the total number of broadband users, now at more than five million.
