COLLINS ADVANCED MODULAR SCIENCES. Biology A2 for AQA Specification B. By Mike Bailey and Keith Hirst. HarperCollins pound;15.99

The second edition of the Collins Advanced Modular Sciences series has been updated to match the latest specifications and is endorsed by AQA.

The two compulsory A2 level biology modules, Module 4: Energy and Environment and Module 5: Continuity and Control, are covered thoroughly and there is a shorter section with practical advice on coursework.

This book clearly benefits from being less of a rushed job than the AS book. The text and learning objectives are clear and summaries will help organise revision. It also contains material designed to prepare students for the synoptic elements of the A-level examination, together with interesting up-to-date applications and occasional extension boxes to support the most able students. Extensive answers are given at the back of the book.

Many-end-of section questions are from appropriate past AQA examinations - mark schemes are not provided. Recommended, both as a library resource and as full class sets.
