Angered by the maths insult

22nd October 2004, 1:00am
I am an experienced early-years practitioner with a first-class BA combined honours degree in education studies and early childhood education but have been rejected by the Teacher Training Agency while applying for higher-level teaching assistant status because I do not hold a level 2 certificate in maths.

Where is the common sense in this? The level I have studied to far exceeds this qualification.

I feel angry and insulted that the TTA has adopted a system that does not consider the diversity of individual education routes or the range of qualifications that are available in the era of “lifelong learning” Donna Potts
