THE ARTICLE on citizenship education and anti-racism (TES, April 23) quotes Tony Sewell at Leeds University on the need for a focus on anti-racism education in the early years to counter the white loser culture’’ among adolescent white males. Only last week a resource to support such an approach was published by the National Early Years Network.

“Action for Racial Equality in the Early Years’’ by Jane Lane, provides workers in childcare and early education with guidance and advice on how to tackle racism, prejudice and discrimination.

By helping young children absorb attitudes of equality, early-years workers can help prevent the seeds of racism taking root.
