Church leaders have called for schools’ duty to provide daily acts of worship to be replaced by more varied celebrations of faith. A report from the Churches’ Joint Education Policy Committee said that the current requirement was impractical and that “irrelevant or hypocritical” assemblies were turning children against Christianity.
