Stella, Fairy of the Forest is the third Stella picture book by Marie-Louise Gay (Allen amp; Unwin pound;10.50).
It portrays a loving sibling relationship and an idyllic outdoor adventure as Stella takes her younger brother Sam to hunt for fairies, answering his questions and allaying some of his fears on the way.
The amiable humour in the inaccuracy of some of her explanations and his subsequent deductions will appeal to children in Years 1 and 2.
