The Scottish Badminton Union, which is overhauling its coaching structure, is considering making it compulsory for coaches to take a child protection course before working with young players.

National coach Gillian Martin writes in Scottish Badminton:

“Safety is crucial and child potection essential. Therefore, basic coaching courses should provide coaches with guidance to achieve the above in a safe and secure environment for both child and coach.

“It may be compulsory for all coaches to sit a National Coaching Foundation course in child protection.”
