Barking has Moore culture than you think

Is FErret in danger of becoming a cultural snob (“A not-so-cultured club”, 23 March)? Barking amp; Dagenham might not be able to compete with Shia Islam’s third holiest site, but we are proud of our connections with Billy Bragg, Sandie Shaw, Bobby Moore, Dudley Moore, Sir Alf Ramsey, Sir Ian Holm, Elizabeth Fry, Mary Wollstonecraft and, of course, the women machinists at Ford who took a giant, global step for womankind with their successful campaign: equal pay for work of equal value.

Cultural credit where credit’s due, please, FErret!

Cathy Walsh, Principal and chief executive, Barking amp; Dagenham College.
