Belfast - Let there be light, naturally

9th October 2009, 1:00am

Northern Ireland’s most technologically advanced secondary had its official opening in Belfast last week.

Ashfield Girls’ High is an environmentally friendly building that incorporates solar panels to cut heating costs, harvests and recycles rainwater, and uses passive infrared technology to control skylights to let in natural light.

The school is one of six built this year as part of the Belfast Education and Library Board’s pound;400 million partnership with the AmeyFMP consortium. MR.
