Bilingual feline

Lucy Cat in Town is also Lucie Chat en Ville, a bilingual adventure story for children aged five to nine. The young feline heroine goes shopping with her mother and finds it rather boring until a masked dog steals some money and “Lucie arrete le voleur”. It’s told as a picture strip, with speech bubbles and captions given twice on each page. Simple grammatical formulae, such as “Ou est monI?”, are repeated often to make them recognisable. The pronunciation guide isn’t entirely reliable, but the concept and production are charming. Pounds 4.99 from b small publishing.
