Boys may be closing the literacy gap with girls

A number of recent studies have indicated that boys may be closing the literacy gap with girls.

Boys’ junior national curriculum test reading scores leapt by 14 percentage points betwen 1998 and 1999, cutting the girls’ lead to six points.

But some experts have suggested that the improvement could be due to a more “boy-friendly” format.
