Bribery and threats at dinner

9th June 2000, 1:00am
ALMOST half of parents try bribery and threats to get their children to eat their greens, according to a report by NOP commissioned by the British Tomato Growers’ Association.

A favourite tactic is the treat of “no pudding”, used by 28 per cent of parents, while a quarter make their children stay at the table until some of the vegetables have been consumed.

However, 11 per cent admit defeat.
