Bursars’ boost

I am pleased that The TES has established a new category in the Jobs section for school business managers and bursars. These are crucial posts in today’s schools and are very much part of the remodelling agenda and the move towards extended schools.

An effective bursar can take presure off their headteacher, leaving him or her to concentrate more fully on teaching and learning - the very essence of remodelling. Most bursars can point to money that they have saved or even earned for their school to the benefit of students, but the role is far wider than that.

It can encompass personnel management, premises management, ICT, administration and marketing as well as finance.
