A civic reception has been held to mark the tenth anniversary of one of the most productive partnerships between a school and a business in Scotland.

The relationship between Aberdeen’s Kincorth Academy and oil and gas company Petrofac has led to an all-weather community sports pitch, a pupil mentoring scheme, an annual award ceremony to recognise the achievements of pupils, and support for the Kincorth community theatre group.

The city council says the partnership has also enabled Petrofac employees to “develop their social, interpersonal and leadership skills and their knowledge of the education system and young people”.

The reception, hosted last week by Lord Provost Peter Stephen, also celebrated other links between schools and business and the Scottish Government’s Determined to Succeed scheme.
