Busted by its own jargon

Mark Haysom, chief executive of the Learning and Skills Council, would do well to read the AoC’s college briefings for inspiration in his battle against waffle.

In the latest, the AoC highlights some baffling acronyms in the pages of the JISC Annual Review. They include JANET, ACLs, X4L, EDINA, TechDis and J-LIS. FErret’s poll of FE experts reveals most of them can’t get past JISC itself.

It is, of course, the Joint Information and Systems Committee, funded by Mr Haysom’s quango and, presumably, high up on his jargon-busting hit-list.
