Vimal Sharma argues that “the much-rehearsed cost of inspections is minimal, on average 0.5 per cent of the cumulative budget of a school over four years”(TES, March 13). I work this out for our school as pound;6,000 (0.5 per cent x pound;300,000 x 4). pound;6,000 would just about cover this year’s projected budget deficit and is also three times our agreed capitation limit for this financial year.
