Annual leave

VelmaDinckley: The entitlement is apparently 40 days. I have read the SNCT handbook section but still don’t understand this. Will I have the same entitlement or am I being shafted? I have a new contract for four days a week but would be really upset if my holidays are being affected.

catmother: This happened last year. The reason given was to stop teachers on sick leave or maternity leave being entitled to claim up to 60 holiday days. I thought this was a disgrace - if that is what people were legally entitled to, why should they not get it? The next thing is we could be asked to be present at school when pupils are off. In the present climate, anything could happen!

piglet171: Is your “four days” contract permanent now?

VelmaDinckley: Yes, and I’m back to mainstream, which is fantastic. I was beginning to believe those who said it was impossible to move from ASN back to class teaching. I’ll still have to do a bit of supply but I don’t feel so demoralised because I’ve got four days permanent now.

babette: Well done on getting a permanent post and pleased to hear you have made it back into mainstream. I know how hard that can be!
