Children’s scheme proves hit

LOCAL partnerships set up to support disadvantaged children with pound;380 million by the Children’s Fund are helping to prevent low school achievement and reduce crime, inspectors reported. The Office for Standards in Education said the monitoring and mentoring schemes, which involve voluntary groups and local education and health services, were a model way to tackle social exclusion and had “no shortage of good ideas”.
