PoS: 1a, 1d, 1g, 1j, sections 2 3. Key questions that might be explored are: Who pays for our roads, and who decides where they go? How do roads affect the environment, and should new ones be built? Why do people protest against the building of some roads? How do roads affect local and national economies? How can people affect road planning? Pupils investigate and debate the future of road building and produce a report to be sent to their local MP or national government. It could consider the economic, social, and environmental impact of road building and make reasoned recommendations. Research data and opinions on websites, including “non-violent direct action”. Try a Google search using “road building”, “protest” and “UK government” as keywords). Ensure that the project connects with specific areas of the CE PoS.
