Images of Britain

To celebrate the design achievements of Britain between London’s last Olympics (1948) and this year’s Games, the Victoria and Albert Museum is hosting the first celebration of the nation’s innovations with its British Design: 1948-2012 exhibition.

What is it?

The exhibition explores tensions between tradition and modernity, subversive impulse in British culture, and Britain’s leadership in design innovation and creativity. Students can see how designers have responded to economic, political and cultural challenges, watch styles shift from Swinging Sixties to 1970s punk to Cool Britannia in the 1990s, and discover historic British inventions and architecture.

How to book

Education groups cost #163;2 per person and must be pre-booked by telephoning 020 7942 2211. The exhibition runs until 12 August.
