For the Creativity in Digital Media Awards, Becta is challenging students aged 5-18 to create highly imaginative, curriculum-linked, edited video of less than two minutes in length, digital still images or three-minute digital music pieces. A free supporting DVD is available. Closing date: October 31. Prizes include Apple eMac computers and iPods, Canon digital video, free accredited training and passes for a BBC Television Centre tour.

Web for the Future challenges entrants up to the age of 30 to come up with new scenarios making innovative use of the internet. The categories are Enjoying the home, Enjoying the city, and Interpersonal relationships.
Closing date: December 22. The three winners will receive E1,500 each and three months’ work experience at O-one Lab helping to realise their ideas (O-one Lab specialises in web projects and technologies). This international contest is supported by Macromedia, Reggio Emilia and Modena University.
