Local authorities in England which missed out on vast sums of school- rebuilding cash are joining forces to mount a legal challenge against the Westminster Government. Education Secretary Michael Gove has called a halt to the pound;55 billion Building Schools for the Future programme, removing more than 700 school building projects from it altogether. The decision means local authorities have lost over pound;200 million of public money they had spent preparing for the projects.
