I became concerned about qualification fraud last year and decided that, for any new appointments this year, I would take the simple precaution of asking candidates to produce the original certificates for their degree and PGCE (where appropriate).
Of 15 appointments, two candidates were unable to produce proof of their results on their application forms and had to withdraw. This quite clearly makes a mockery of the entire examination system.
