12th January 2001, 12:00am
Ignorance about epilepsy can lead not just to fear but to dangerous treatment during unexpected seizures. Discovering Epilepsy is a CD-Rom for nine to 16-year-olds based on a challenging but enjoyable adventure game. Making their way through the Science Lab (current research findings), the Clinic (doctors’ diagnoses and treatments), the TV Room (interviews with epileptics) and the Map Room (daily lives of thse affected) and avoiding the Staff Room (downloadable fact-files for teachers), they can collect a certificate from the professor who has enlisted their help.

Secondary schools in England and Wales can order a free copy though their health educator. Further copies cost pound;10 (+pamp;p) from the British Epilepsy Association. Call Freephone 0808 800 5050 or visit the website: www.epilepsy.org.uk
