Don’t hide behind jeers and sneers

How arrogant of the ubiquitous Colin Richards to assume that those of us involved in educational measurement are not as “concerned with enhancing the quality of education” as he is. (“Artificial measures of intelligence”, Letters, 6 December). The difference is that while we try to define, albeit imperfectly, this slippery concept, he is content to jeer and sneer from the sidelines. Perhaps in his next letter he will offer up his own definition of educational quality for TES readers to scrutinise.
