Doodles betray graffiti vandals

POLICE in Scarborough, north Yorkshire, are asking teachers to check pupils’ exercise books after a spate of graffiti in the town.

Hundreds of buildings have been sprayed with distinctive signatures or “tags”. Police believe that the culprits are likely to reproduce the tags as doodles in their school work. Photos of “tags” have been put in staffrooms, and teachers are being encouraged to look out for them when marking. If this proves unsuccessful, police will ask to examine books themselves.
